I AM EUROPE

From January to June 2013, around 250 European citizens from eight EU countries are gathering in various locations to exchange, explore, evaluate and (re-)invent participation tools to enlarge citizen influence on EU policies. I AM EUROPE (iEU) aims to contribute to the movement launched by citizens, thinkers, civil society organizations and activists to enhance the practice of citizenship and democratic procedures at the European level and encourage the political and social involvement of Europeans. I AM EUROPE is working with citizens and organizations who are already strongly engaged in local civic initiatives; they can be the real motor of change in the way Europeans perceive and participate in Europe. The outcome of the project – a series of specific proposals, developed jointly by citizens and policymakers – will be widely disseminated among activist networks and EU decision makers, with the aim of creating change in the institutional frameworks and empowering European democracy. I AM EUROPE is initiated by the Evens Foundation in partnership with nine grassroots organizations from eight EU countries: Animafac (FR), Balkan Assist (BG), Buurtschatten (BE), CONFAVC (ES), CeRe (RO), Cesam (SE), Ę (PL), MitOst (DE), Pour La Solidarité (BE). Our supporting partner are: Notre Europe – Institut Jacques Delors (FR), Schuman Foundation Poland (PL), Fondation Hippocrene (FR), deBuren (BE). The project is supported by the Europe for Citizens Programme of the EU.
