Talking Europe - Diskutier mit mir
Talking Europe is a pan-european website and app that aims at bursting political and national filter bubbles by connecting Europeans with different political views in online 1:1 chats. Following a low threshold approach, Talking Europe connects European citizens via their answers to five up-to-date theses with an opponent and enables them to have an anonymous discussion on these and more topics - in their respective native language because of real-time translation by Deep-L technology. By that, Europeans reflect on their own view, can better understand other national and political views and a true European discussion on European issues before the European Elections are created.

Talking Europe builds on the experience of Diskutier Mit Mir which has been launched before the German national elections in 2017 and regional elections in 2018. Anonymous metadata analysis show that around 20.000 people participated in 2017 and there was little to no hate speech or trolling, probably because of the anonymous approach and lack of a supporting audience for trolls. Even though the project was relatively new and is very innovative, the feedback by the users was very positive and the figures show it was also used by a fair large amount of citizens before the regional elections.
